Early Life and Career

Patrick Lavon Mahomes II was born on September 17, 1995, in Tyler, Texas. His father, Pat Mahomes, was a professional baseball player, and his mother, Randi Mahomes, was a high school athlete. Mahomes played football, basketball, and baseball in high school, but it was on the football field that he truly excelled.

Mahomes committed to play college football at Texas Tech University. As a freshman, he started 12 games and threw for 4,653 yards and 36 touchdowns. He also rushed for 252 yards and five touchdowns. Mahomes was named the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.

As a sophomore, Mahomes led Texas Tech to a 7-6 record and threw for 5,052 yards and 41 touchdowns. He was again named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.

NFL Career

Mahomes was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs with the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He started 13 games as a rookie and threw for 2,818 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also rushed for 275 yards and two touchdowns. Mahomes was named the NFL Rookie of the Year.

In 2018, Mahomes took the NFL by storm. He threw for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns, leading the Chiefs to a 12-4 record. He was named the NFL MVP and was named to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro team.

Mahomes continued to play at a high level in 2019, throwing for 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also rushed for 216 yards and two touchdowns. The Chiefs finished the season with a 12-4 record and won the AFC Championship Game. However, they lost to the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.

In 2020, Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 14-2 record and the Super Bowl championship. He threw for 4,740 yards and 38 touchdowns and was named the Super Bowl MVP.

Personal Life

Mahomes is married to Brittany Matthews, a former college soccer player. They have one daughter, Sterling Skye Mahomes. Mahomes is known for his outgoing personality and his love of the game of football. He is also a philanthropist and has donated money to several charities, including the Patrick Mahomes Foundation, which supports children's health and education.
